Anthony M. Alonso (1931-2013) is an internationally known equine artist whose passion was creating fine arts paintings of famous thoroughbreds, their owners and their environment.
His paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States, Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Monaco, Venezuela, and The Virgin Islands. Originals are also on permanent display in public collections at Arlington, Belmont, Churchill Downs, Laurel, Santa Anita & Woodbine Race Tracks, The National Museum of Racing & Hall of Fame (who have three original oils by Alonso in their permanent collection) and the Seacoast National Bank, Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Alonso was a graduate of both The High School of Music & Art in New York City and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY . He also studied at The Art Students League in New York under Samuel Oppenheim and John Howard Sanden.
